Welcome to National Park Sea Kayak Tours!
National Park Sea Kayak is dedicated to providing its guests with quality Ecological Sea Kayak Tours on the “Western Side” of Acadia. 2016 will celebrate our 24th season with a perfect safety record. National Park Sea Kayak is owned and operated by an Acadia / Mount Desert Island native. Paddle with Experienced Professional Maine Sea Kayak Guides. Discover why the remote “West Side” is the preferred paddling area to: view wildlife, explore the undeveloped Coast of Maine and experience that off the beaten path feeling that many people seek out.
Tours start Saturday, May 28, 2016 and while we are accepting reservations now, we’ll be more available to answer questions when our office opens in mid-April!
Where will we go?
Your registered Maine Guide will decide which route will be the most enjoyable and safest for you based on wind conditions, visibility, and tides. We paddle the remote “Westside” including; Western Bay, Blue Hill Bay, and occasionally Somes Sound. Some tours are round trip, starting and stopping at the same location. Most are one-way (wind at your back) stopping at a different ending point.
Depending upon the route chosen, we will be paddling a total of 5 to 6½ miles on a half-day trip, with a fifteen to twenty minute break part way through. Actual time on the water is approximately 2½ – 3 hours for half-day trips. National Park Sea Kayak is a mobile kayak company traveling via van to the remote “West Side” of Acadia on every paddle. This off-the-beaten-path philosophy results in less boat traffic, no motels, no cruise ships, but great wildlife sightings…..
