Raised on the banks of the Penobscot river, Fletch spent his summers exploring Maine from the coast to the inland mountains of Baxter State Park. That love for nature inspired him to pursue an education with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). A three month school trip to southern Chile was a perfect training ground for studies in wilderness medicine, navigation and sea kayaking. A second course focused on the “soft skills” of outdoor education where weeks were spent learning about leadership, risk management and decision making skills. Fletch became a registered Maine guide in 2008 and has been leading trips in and around Acadia National Park every summer since.
